THE MESSAGE

”The brilliant camera work and the fast-paced editing make you feel like you're watching Errol Morris on methamphetamines. This flick just plain ROCKS.”
(Ain't It Cool News)
”What makes Moebius Redux extraordinary, especially on a big theater screen, is the way in which director Hasko Baumann integrated artwork into the movie. The movie is filled with layers of eye-popping art. (...) The film has something to offer for comic-book geeks, sf/fantasy film buffs or fans of well-crafted documentaries ... and it is a visual treat.”
(Cinematical.com)
”It’s easy to see why the doc won two awards at the recent Comic-Con; it examines the life of French artist Jean Giraud (AKA Moebius) in a very refreshing manner that manages to be both breezy and deeply informative.”
(Twitchfilm.net)
”The film opens with a stunning animated sequence with music by Kraftwerk alum Karl Bartos. That's pure magic right there. Then Redux settles into talking head interviews, but Baumann runs a tight ship by focusing on Moebius the artist first and foremost.”
(Revolutionsf.com)
”Beautifully shot and with a superb list of interview participants this fascinating film covers his entire career in a captivating style.”
(Frightfest.co.uk)
”A good documentary should be able to enlighten both the fan and the unfamiliar viewer. This certainly does that. ”
(Nuancemusic.com)
”When was the last time you were actually “transported” by a film–taken to another world for an hour and a half, and you weren’t ready to leave when the trip was done? Director Hasko Baumann has created such a film.”
(Wordpress.com)
”I'll disregard the technical merits of this film (stunning HD, score by Karl Bartos, etc etc) and just say it was a treat.”
(Harry Knowles)

| I've already seen this docu when it came out first and it's great. :)
If you like Karl and his music - watch it, it's worth seeing for that alone.
If you like comics (or graphic novels, as they're called as well) - it's a MUST see! Moebius is one of the greatest of that genre!
There's a whole bunch of really interesting stuff in the movie even I didn't know before seing it - like Moebius being a designer in "Alien". Sure, everyone knows about Giger designing the Alien, but the Nostromo and the spacesuits of the humans being designed by Moebius was totally new for me, I didn't know it.
If you don't know Moebius, there's several other masters of comics paying tribute to him in the docu - for example Stan Lee, creator of pretty much everything that made Marvel what it is today, be it Spiderman, the Hulk, the X-Men...
Have a look, it's worth your time! :) | | |
